Intraoral Cameras
Intraoral cameras produce live magnified images of your teeth and gums.
The best way to remedy dental problems is to catch them as early as possible, which is why regular dental checkups are recommended. But no matter how skilled the dentist is or how bright a light he uses, it can be difficult to see well inside of a patient’s mouth. Even with a magnifying mirror, it is possible to miss the often tiny indicators of developing problems. The intraoral camera, used at Springs Family Dentistry, is a technological advancement that makes it possible to not only detect the smallest of details, but also show these tiny defects to the patient and record them for later reference.
Crystal Clear Images Improve Diagnoses
Our DEXcam intraoral camera allows us to document and show outer areas of the teeth and gums—including lesions, cracks, and tooth deposits to our patients on a computer screen. The DEXcam is a tool used to diagnose problems a patient may be at risk of developing before they have a chance to take effect. The camera is placed in the patient’s mouth, where it captures images and sends them to a nearby computer screen. The dentist can then review them with the patient. The camera’s accompanying software provides data that can help the dentist and patient decide on a treatment option. And because they detect problems early on, the images taken by an intraoral camera can also save patients a significant amount of money in the long run.
