3D CBCT & Digital X-Rays in Longwood, Florida
What are 3D CPCT & Digital X-Rays?
Although Springs Family Dentistry adopted digital radiographs early on, we now have added the capabilities for 3D CBCT images.
Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a particular type of X-ray machine used in situations where a traditional dental X-ray is not sufficient. This type of scanner uses a special technology to generate 3D images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve pathways, airway, and bones in the craniofacial region in a single scan. This gives Dr. Gessner significantly more information to allow the most accurate diagnosis of your condition.
Dentists commonly use a CBCT for:
Diagnosing temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD/TMJ).
Evaluation of the jaw, sinuses, nerve canals, airway, and nasal cavity.
Detecting, measuring, and treating jaw tumors.
Locating the origin of pain or pathology that is not detectable with 2D methods.
Accurate and safe placement of dental implants.
To ensure that the maximum amount of information is extracted from each image, Dr. Gessner sends every CBCT to also be read by an Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist. It is essential to bring in the expertise and knowledge of a radiologist with 3D images to confirm a proper diagnosis is accomplished.
